Imagining future urban environments

How do we use digital technologies to create spaces, works, to communicate, to explore, learn and teach? How do interactive multifunctional spaces and forms within our urban environment look like and how do they challenge us to step out of our comfort zone, think deeper and look further?

During this inspirational talk Rich Holland, Experience Designer, Architect & Creative Director at Floda31, takes us into his world of Imagining future urban environments. A world of immersive landscapes where people get inspired to think differently, where data can be visualized to find hidden patterns and meaning and our movements and feelings have been used for future designs. Working for international clients like Nike, Adidas, VMX Architects, Design Research Society and Kanye West, Rich’s work is mainly focused around the skating landscape, one of his passions he integrated in his work. Rich recently also worked with students from the HvA Master Digital Design.

One of his assignments was to add an extra layer for action sports, specifically skateboarding, or the skate landscape at the Nike EHQ. For him both outcomes only scratched the surface of what can be created.
